According to Business Insider, Meta’s Chief AI Scientist Yann LeCun is leaving the company after 12 years, with five of those spent as the founding director of its FAIR research lab. He announced in November that he is creating a startup to pursue an “Advanced Machine Intelligence” research program aimed at building AI systems that understand the physical world and can reason. During a talk at the AI-Pulse event in Paris, LeCun clarified that while Meta will be a partner, it will not be a direct financial investor in his new company. This comes after Meta reorganized its AI efforts this year around a new Superintelligence Lab, headed by Scale AI founder Alexandr Wang.
LeCun’s Bet Beyond The LLM
